Noticing a tossed bottle cap in the field of an urban park may not seem significant. Seeing a collection of hundreds from a single 250-foot-wide park reveals the scale of human impact on nature.

The purpose of my work is to evoke a genuine sense of discovery by revealing the connection between individual actions and the global-scale systems that they are part of.

As an artist, naturalist, and technologist, I'm attuned to the environmental movement through the lens of interdisciplinary conservation. Without conservation, we risk losing our origins. With an insatiable curiosity for understanding the way things work and a reverence for nature's ability to do so without human interference, I'm continually seeking new ways to bridge the gap between the natural environment and technological innovation.

I'm driven to expose the harmful effects of society’s compulsion towards material consumption, both in attitude and action. The inspiration for my recent work is the materialistic mental push-pull of a desire to live sustainably, but with such few options in the status quo, we enter a cycle of wanting material objects and feeling guilty for it.

Guided by a deep appreciation for expert craftsmanship, quality materials, and the lasting power of good design, I spend countless hours collecting, salvaging, restoring, and creating with materials and objects generally considered "trash.” I assemble these discarded or single-purpose items and materials to create a new purpose in novel ways, with the ultimate aim of inspiring others to reconsider their opinions, needs, and purchasing patterns.

With each new work, I embark on a complex thought process: beginning with a clear concept in my mind, then often shifting focus between projects so that I have time to review and make considerations in the design and assembly as I collect new materials, ensuring the resulting pieces invoke the intended impact.
